PES Update  
Kirk Duncan, Power & Energy Society (PES), Kansas City Chapter Chair, attended the PES 2012 General Meeting in San Diego July 22-26.

Activities included Chapter Chair training and networking with other Chapter Chairs, Regional Representatives, and PES Officers; working group meetings; paper presentations; and Super Sessions (panel presentations of today's topics of interest).

Kirk lunched with PES President Noel Schulz, Pasley Professor of ECE at Kansas State University. He also as attended the Awards Ceremony, where two local persons were recognized:

  • Dr. Anil Pahwa (Manhattan KS), Professor of ECE Kansas State University, won the IEEE PES Douglas M. Staszesky Distribution Automation Award.
  • Rick Bush (Shawnee KS), Editorial Director of T&D World magazine won the IEEE PES Award for Excellence in Power Distribution Engineering.
